Manufacturer Direct Warranty - Guarantee

Trust us..The Management here at Artesian Rainwater Tanks sadly LEARNT THE VERY HARD WAY when it comes to scululous manufacturers void tgheir warranty obligations. As we have stopod the so you will not have too !

Artesian Rainwater Tanks distribute water tanks which are manufactured to precise standards, and the quality of our tanks is guaranteed for 10 years.  If the water tank is installed as per our installation guide and is used for its intended purpose, but a manufacturing fault emerges, it will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you (up to 10 years after the date of purchase).  A warranty document is supplied with the 'Quality Test Report' on delivery of your rainwater tank.

Manufacture

All Artesian Rainwater Tanks water tanks are made locally with a state-of-the-art rotary moulding facility by trained, experienced professionals.  Artesian Rainwater Tanks distribute tanks made from only the finest quality materials and moulds, and the manufacturer employs possibly the strictest testing procedures in the Industry.

Materials

Artesian Rainwater Tanks only use polyethylene that contains UV protection tested specifically for our local climate.  Since our local climate can be incredibly harsh, we make sure the materials that Artesian Rainwater Tanks use contain the right ingredients to make it last.

The certified polyethylene used in the tanks distributed by Artesian Rainwater Tanks is 100% safe for drinking water, and we do not use inferior imported materal from China that may not have been properly tested to the strict Australian standards.

Superior Design

Unlike many other rainwater tanks, Artesian Rainwater Tanks have been designed specifically with the way you will use your water in mind.

The water tanks offered by Artesian Rainwater Tanks are produced and delivered as one solid piece.  The rotational moulding process used in the manufacturing of each tank produces strong tanks with no seams or centre poles.  The ribbed design or 'belts' of Artesian Water Tanks ensure your tank will keep its shape over time, particularly at full capacity.

Customisation

On each Artesian Rainwater Tank, multiple outlets are provided (offset from each other) to make it easier for you to access rainwater from your tank.  Having the provision for a number of outlets gives the ultimate flexibility.  You could for instance, on many models, fit a water filter to the top outlet for accessing drinking water, while running a pump from the lower outlet.  Each of Artesian Rainwater Tank's outlets are located at a height which make it convenient and comfortable to connect a hose or on some models, an outlet at bucket height is possible so as you may fill a watering can or bucket if the model you purchase has the brass outlet in the side wall.  Should you choose a model with a brass outlet at bucket height we even supply a lockable tap fitting so you can start using your rainwater sooner.

We are happy to accommodate any specific requests for the location of outlets on your rainwater tank upon application if the fittings don't come as standard.  Please let us know when ordering.

Certification

Artesian Rainwater Tanks is a South East Queensland based provider of high quality water tanks.  Artesian Rainwater Tanks are one of only a few providers that supply tanks certified to the Australian Tank Standard AS4766:2006.  The manufacturers supplying Artesian Rainwater Tanks are independently audited to ensure their tanks are manufactured to comply with the minimum Australian standards required / and fit for purpose which ensures a very transparent and traceable quality process.  Therefore we only offer tanks with an excellent reputation from manufacturers who are independently audited to meet these standards thus policed by actually doing what they say they will do by an independent third party such as SAI Global.

Artesian Rainwater Tanks are helping lead the way in delivering to market quality water tanks as they are one of the only several water tank providers who distribute tanks that have been individually tested to the minimum standards with detailed quality test reports maintained by the manufacturer.  We proudly offer tanks that have been tested in each of the following ways:

  1. The wall thickness of each water tank is measured in 20 locations
  2. An impact test is performed on a cutout section of each rainwater tank to ensure the polymer chains are not brittle and have bonded together correctly.
  3. A visual inspection is also performed to ensure there are no abnormalities prior to loading any tank on the truck.

You can therefore be assured that buying an Independenly Certified Tank offered by Artesian Rainwater Tanks ensures you are getting a high quality, well tested product that will last and critically will be Fit For Purpose !

Certified Product Australian Standard

Are Your Rainwater Tanks AS4766 Certified?

Easy tips that YOU can check for...

  • Radius of water tank base must be minimum of 25mm for diameter of 1.8m, water tanks over 1.8m diameter radius must be minimum 38mm
  • Installation guide must be supplied with every rainwater tank
  • Tank serial number to be marked on every water tank

Still not sure? Ask for...

  • FEA reports of approved mould design for structural strength
  • Ultrasonic thickness test results - should not be less than 4.5mm thick, or as per FEA requirements
  • Impact Test Results
  • Polyethylene material used is certified to AS4020 (drinking water) & AS2070 (food grade)

Artesian Rainwater Tanks do all of the above plus more...

We supply you with all the results.  Every water tank we supply is tested and comes with a written 'quality test report' including impact test sample.

The Australian Standard 4766 - "Polyethylene Storage Tanks for Water and Chemicals" requires that 1 in every 10 water tanks produced pass a strict set of tests.  This standard specifies requirements for the design and manufacture of polyethylene storage water tanks are rotationally moulded in one-piece seamless construction.

Artesian Rainwater Tanks are committed to quality so we ensure every rainwater tank is tested, and we provide you with the testing report for every tank you purchase from us, so you can be certain your rainwater tank meets quality standards.

Each Artesian Rainwater Tank we supply must pass three tests before leaving the factory floor:

  • Ultrasonic Thickness Testing - Uses ultrasonic measuring equipment to measure the thickness of the water tank at various points in the roof, wall and base.
  • Impact Testing - Measures the plastic's impact strength and ensures the water tank is not brittle and has been made correctly.
  • Visual Inspection - Our experienced staff perform a survey of the interior and exterior of the water tank.

Ultrasonic Thickness Testing

Before any tank leaves one of several factories, the tanks supplied by Artesian Rainwater Tanks are tested using an ultrasonic measuring device to determine their thickness to within 0.1mm accuracy.  This device is used on 20 sections of the tank including areas of the lid, wall and base.

The Australian Standard requires that no section is thinner that 4.5mm. Proudly, Artesian Rainwater Tanks offer only tanks that meet or far exceed this standard.

Further testing is done on areas at a similar height on the water tank, to ensure they are a consistent width which in turn guarantees the tank's long-term durability.  When you purchase tanks from a particular manufacturer,  you will receive the complete results of the thickness test with your test report, so you can be certain about the thickness in all areas of your water tank.

Impact Testing

Impact testing measures the plastic's strength on impact and ensures the water tank is not brittle and has been made correctly.

  1. When the inlet strainer is cut from the tank, 2 samples of the water tank are removed ready for impact testing (one of these is supplied with the water tank, the other is kept at Artesian Rainwater Tanks for the warranty period of the tank).
  2. The sample is allowed to cool slowly at room temperature for 24 hours, then cooled to -40° celsius for 6 hours to push the polymer chains to their limits.
  3. A 9kg dart is dropped onto sample to test its strength (see adjacent image). If the sample cracks or is pierced then the water tank fails the test and will not be sold.

Impact Testing - Visual Inspection

The interior and exterior of the tanks distributed by Artesian Rainwater Tanks is visually inspected by experienced staff to check for defects.  When rotary moulded polyethylene water tanks are over-cooked, they degrade from the inside out.  It takes the trained, experienced eye of skilled staff to spot these possible defects before any water tank reaches the public.

Safety and Hygiene FAQ's

Q: I have children - is an Artesian Tank Water Tank safe to have around my home?

A: An Artesian Rainwater Tank is safe to install in any outdoor area where children are:

  • Unlike other types of rainwater tanks, our tanks have no metal edges which may be sharp.
  • Artesian Rainwater Tanks are difficult to climb.
  • We recommended leaving a minimum amount of 25mm of water in an Artesian Tank so it is very difficult to tip over.
  • The design of the insert in the top of each watertank can hold the weight of an adult - reducing the risk of people falling into the tank.

Q: Can vermin get into an Artesian Rainwater Tank?

A: The inlet strainer and overflow outlet on your Artesian Rainwater Tank is to Queensland Regulation Standards and is designed to keep vermin such as insects and small animals from entering the tank. Being manufactured and delivered in one solid piece means less openings for vermin to enter through.

Q: Will algae grow in an Artesian Rainwater Tank?

A: Algae only grows in rainwater tanks when enough light enters. There are products such as a Leaf & Light Guards available that will minimise the amount of light entering the water tank, and reduce the rate of algae growth.

Q: Is water from an Artesian Tank safe to drink?

A: Artesian Rainwater Tanks are made of tough, food-grade polyethylene which safely stores water for drinking, and leaves no taste.  It is safe to collect water from most types of roof, including steel (Colourbond, Zincalume), tiles (clay and concrete) and new-style treated fibro.  You can also help your peace of mind by installing a Leaf Eater or First Flush System to further purify the water entering your rainwater tank.

The Queensland Government's Environmental Protection Agency advises that the following types of roofs may not be suitable to collect rainwater for drinking from:

  • painted with lead-based paint (including primer)
  • coated with bitumen-based materials
  • with lead flashings or chemically treated timbers
  • parts containing flues from wood burners
  • where outlet pipes from appliances such as air conditioners discharge onto the roof or gutters
